The Early Music Ensemble of St. Paul

The Early Music Ensemble of St. Paul was formed in the fall of 1991 to perform music from before 1650 in and around St. Paul and neighboring Minneapolis. Under the direction of its founder, Dr. John Baboukis, the Ensemble was noted for its radical approach to early music repertoire, including the exclusive use of unbarred editions prepared for the Ensemble by Dr. Baboukis.

Since 1994 the Ensemble has been directed by noted Twin Cities early musician and composer Douglas C. Shambo II, and is currently a 12-voice choral ensemble that performs with independent instrumentalists as needed for individual concert programs.

The Ensemble is an organizational member of Early Music America.
