Old Releases

The cons-test suite was a stand-alone test suite for the Cons software construction utility. Its now-deprecated, older releases include:

cons-test-3.00.readme
cons-test-3.00.tar.gz
Version 3.00 tests a slightly-modified version of the Cons 1.7 release. It was made available on 9 February 2000, and is a complete rewrite of the testing infrastructure in Perl. The package contains a copy of the original 1.7 Cons script, the fixed Cons script that runs all of the tests, and a diff of the changes between the two. Six of the tests (dealing with libraries) are still not working properly on Windows NT.
cons-test-2.2.readme
cons-test-2.2.tar.gz
Version 2.2 tests the Cons 1.6a3 release. It was made available on 23 July 1999, and adds tests for derived-file caching and salting signatures (finally), handling build errors, and the new InstallAs functionality.
cons-test-2.1.readme
cons-test-2.1.tar.gz
Version 2.1 tests the Cons 1.5 release. It was made available on 17 November 1998, and adds tests for new functionality, portability and consistency fixes in the tests, and the ability to specify alternate CC, AR, and RANLIB utilities. Derived-file caching is still not tested.
cons-test-2.0.readme
cons-test-2.0.tar.gz
Version 2.0 tests the Cons 1.4a2+Repository_6 pseudo-non-release of experimental Repository functionality. The test suite was made available on 5 November 1998, and adds 43 tests that cover the experimental Repository functionality (similar to VPATH functionality in versions of make), and its interaction with other existing Cons functionality. Derived-file caching is still not tested.
cons-test-1.2.readme
cons-test-1.2.tar.gz
Version 1.2 tests the Cons 1.4a2 release. It was made available on 23 October 1998, and adds a test that covers %-variable expansion in build commands. The cons-test.pl script itself has been fixed to be friendlier (checking for the existence of a cons script) and properly report the number of failed tests. Derived-file caching is still not tested. This is the last cons-test release (so far) covering only released Cons functionality.
cons-test-1.1.readme
cons-test-1.1.tar.gz
Version 1.1 tests the Cons 1.4a2 release. It was made available on 21 October 1998, and adds eight more tests covering command-line options that were missed in 1.0, as well as documentation of what functionality is tested by each test, and how. Derived-file caching is still not tested.
cons-test-1.0.readme
cons-test-1.0.tar.gz
Version 1.0 tests the Cons 1.4a2 release. It was made available on 27 September 1998, and contains 27 tests covering most of the base functionality. Some command-line options were ignored, and derived-file caching is not tested.
